Japanese purveyor of minimalist modern goods Muji has a new addition joining their home appliance line, a nearly 20″ tall, all-white turbine air purifier.
The Muji Air Purifier is engineered around a dual counter fan design which supposedly results in stronger air circulation flow, pulling in dirty air from 360-degrees in through the perforated grill body, jettisoning filtered air upward and out from the top.

A three-layer, activated charcoal filtration rated for filtering pollen, mites, and dander works with an array of sensors monitoring both dust and odors, automatically adjusting fan speed accordingly while in “auto” mode. An interesting feature, and one I can appreciate as a diligent cleaner, is the unit’s “jet cleaning mode”. Designed to work in conjunction while cleaning a room with a vacuum cleaner (when dust is most often agitated into the environment), the “jet” setting increases fan speed for up to 30 minutes for maximum circulation/filtration, gradually returning to normal mode of operation once vacuuming is finished.
The Muji Air Purifier was designed by Kazushige Miyake, the same talent responsible for Muji’s bath and body appliances back in 2007, and more recently a portable Muji hair dryer with a similar dual-fan system as within the new air purifier.
